Still bothering me

Cheney says the statute of limitations has run on his secrets.

Does that mean that the statute of limitations has run on the classified “secrets” relating to renditions, the exposure of Valerie Plame, the panel of “oil executive environmentalists” who helped shape our energy policy, the behind the scenes deals giving Halliburton no-bid contracts and the lies and half-truths in the run up to war in Iraq?

If Cheney can tell secrets, then the secrets about him should be open for viewing.

Cheney is writing a tell-all book

Wow, isn’t he the man who believed in secrets and disparaged those former insiders who wrote books about their time in government?

Actually, it makes sense in Cheney-think.

Rules don’t apply to the self-anointed Nietzsche uber-mensch, except that Cheney has all of the hubris of the “overman” but lacks the essential element of one who risks all for the sake of enhancement of humanity.  (Hint: waterboarding doesn’t advance humanity.)

In real-world-think, he is just another egomaniacal hack.

Thought for Today, July 23, 2009: Unpatriotic Fox News

For eight long years, I was one of those “unpatriotic” Americans because I loved this country and disagreed with the Bush administration and its policies.  But I still watched the president’s press conferences and respected the presidency while I had trouble with the man in that office (don’t get me started on Cheney).

Fox News thinks it is ok not to show a presidential press conference because it is opposed to President Obama’s politics.  In the prior administration, the talking heads would be challenging the patriotism of any news outlet that didn’t carry a press conference.  Are those at Fox News selectively patriotic, as in only when a conservative is president?

I loved this country and respected the government even when I personally hated the policies.  What is Fox News’s excuse?

Dick Cheney — the next generation

Liz Cheney is defending her father and possibly running for office. I would be grateful if she went back into the closet because she gives gays and lesbians a bad name. Maybe she can use the man-size safe that her father used for his regular top secret expense reports as her home office.
